FAQs
-
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Most progress is made by meeting weekly to start with, and four sessions is recommended. We then review progress every four weeks. However, everybody has different needs and circumstances so it is up to you.
-
What should I expect?
The first session is for you to talk about what is on your mind, your hopes for counselling and to ask any questions. It allows you to make sure you feel comfortable talking with me. If you do, then we can plan further sessions but there is no obligation to continue.
-
What is your availability?
I work in Dundee on Mondays, 10am–4pm, and in St Andrews on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10am–12pm. I do have flexibility in the evenings so please contact me to discuss your needs.
-
What if I need to cancel?
If you cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice, there is no charge. With less notice, there is a 50% missed appointment fee. The other 50% can be put towards your next appointment. Of course, there are unforeseen circumstances from time to time which we can talk about.
-
What if I am in crisis?
I don’t provide any emergency services. Please call 999 if you are in danger. For urgent help, please try your local GP’s out of hours emergency line, or NHS 24 on 111, or Samaritans on 116 123.
